Type 56 Chest Rig
A Type 56 Chicom chest rig. The Type 56 chest rig was made for use with the Chinese Type 56 assault rifle, which was a near direct copy of the Russian AK47. The rig has 7 pouches, 3 for magazines and 4 for grenades along with adjustable shoulder straps and a tied waist cord.
These chest rigs saw service in Vietnam and later in the Soviet Afghan War, being adopted by Russian soldiers for ease of use and customisation. This caused the Soviet Union to develop and manufacture its own version, known as the First Pattern Lifchik.
This example is dated for 1980 and is in good used condition with no damage.
