Imperial Japanese Medals Set Of 4
A set of 4 Imperial Japanese medals. The set comprises of the China incident medal, Russo War medal, Sacred Treasure 7th class and the Rising Sun 7th class.
1.) China incident medal. The 30mm bronze medal was issued to Japanese soldiers that served in the Japanese 1937 to 1945 war with China. The medal was created in 1939 and abolished after the war in 1945. The detailing on the medal is superb with the bar reading ‘Military Service Medal’.
The rear of the medal has the traditional Japanese hook and eye fixing.
The medal is complete with original ribbon and box, all in good condition.
2.) Japanese Russo War medal. The Russo-Japanese War was fought during 1904 and 1905 between the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and Korea. The war ended with a victory for the Japanese empire.
The Meiji period gilded bronze medal has the traditional Japanese hook and eye fixing.
3.) Sacred Treasure 7th class medal. The Sacred Treasure award was established in 1888 and is the only Japanese medal that has a triangular fold in the ribbon.
The solid silver medal was awarded in eight classes, from 8th up to 1st for long and/or meritorious military service. In 2003 the 7th and 8th classes were abolished.
The medal has the traditional Japanese hook and eye fixing.
4.) Order of the Rising Sun 7th class medal. The Order of the Rising Sun was Japan’s first decoration, being instituted by Council of State Decree on 10 April 1875. The solid silver medal is awarded in eight classes to both military and civilians. The class awarded depended upon the rank of the recipient, primarily granted to soldiers and non-commissioned officers.
The medal has the traditional Japanese hook and eye fixing.
