Soviet Afghan War Plastic Canteen
A Soviet Afghan war Russian soldiers plastic canteen. The tropical plastic canteen / water bottles were introduced in the early 1980’s as the Afghan war showed the need for larger size water bottles for its soldiers in the harsh hot environment.
The soft white plastic bottles hold 1.5 litres and have a removable plastic cup. This early version has the lid attached to the bottle with a metal chain with the later version using a plastic collar.
This example is in good used condition and its pouch is dated for 1987.
